A window let us see the world, a painting opens the door to hope.

A Window to the World

One day, I received a letter.

The moment I opened it, it felt as though I had also opened a window—a window leading toward a distant city and into the international language of contemporary art.

Dancing Girl is exhibiting in the international exhibition “Barcelona: 1001 Windows” at MEAM – Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (European Museum of Modern Art) in Barcelona, Spain.

With the window as its central curatorial concept, the exhibition invites artists from around the world to explore the multifaceted relationships between the city, the act of seeing, and the human experience—reflecting on how cultures flow, connect, and evolve through openness and exchange.

With its distinctive sense of movement and emotional intensity, Dancing Girl responds to the theme of the exhibition through a visual language of freedom, resilience, and hope in motion. It will become part of this international artistic dialogue.

The exhibition will take place at MEAM MUSEUM from September 16 to September 22, 2026, with the opening ceremony on September 17, bringing together artists and curators from around the world to share ideas and begin a new dialogue through art.

Sometimes, an invitation is more than a letter.

It is a window.

And sometimes, opening that window is the beginning of a new chapter.

HELLO:
"Welcome, everyone! These two artworks are actually engaged in a deep dialogue with each other, perfectly echoing the core theme of this exhibition: that a window is not merely an architectural structure, but a doorway to the human soul.

Let’s first look at <Transformation>. At first glance, do you immediately feel the striking contrast between ice and fire? You can imagine this painting as an 'inner window'—where cool, glacial blues are gradually consumed by surging flames and gold. Yet this is not destruction; it is an awakening. Look closely at those flame-like lines—they even sprout like new leaves. What this painting tells us is that when you bravely step across the threshold of fear, the circumstances that once felt frozen and static will forge into the most brilliant light.

Now, turning to another piece, <Above the Clouds>. If <Transformation> is an inward journey, this piece guides our perspective 'upward.'

Feel free to step a little closer. The artist has used a rich variety of mixed media here. Down at the base, the underlying structures subtly evoke warm villages and the rising sun. Moving your eyes upward along the canvas, delicate, colorful wooden strips and soft cotton reach toward the sky—they act like the promise of a rainbow and cloud-like witnesses, quietly watching over and honoring each unique soul as it leaps and grows toward higher horizons.

What is particularly fascinating is the white, frosting-like texture—have you noticed those faint cracks running through it? In the artist's eyes, these fissures are not flaws or signs of decay; they are 'windows' through which new life erupts.

It serves as a tender reminder that even when life reveals cracks, those very openings are where hope and imagination take root and sprout.

Side by side, these two paintings compose one of the most beautiful chapters within our 1001 windows: one leads us through a radiant rebirth, while the other, blessed with rainbow promises and cloud-like witnesses, carries us toward new horizons far beyond our imagination."

Artwork 1: Transformation (Cross the Threshold)
  Painting: Transformation, 41x31cm,mixed media

Transformation explores the pivotal moment when change becomes illumination.

Upon closer gaze, the canvas reveals a breathtaking interplay between ice and fire. Layers of glacial blue give way to surging crimson and gold, whose flame-like, organic contours sprout like new leaves—embodying both burning energy and vital growth.

While mineral textures and stone fragments anchor the piece in memory, a mysterious layer unfolds on the right: shimmering specks of blue and gold glitter weave through the composition, while a translucent, ice-like texture glimmers softly from behind, veiled and intriguing.

Yet, the true power rests at the very center: it is the fire that ultimately triumphs. Here, heat overcomes cold—not as destruction, but as a beautiful awakening. Fire becomes a passage: a threshold where fear yields to courage, and the frozen ordinary is forged into something radiant.

Created for Barcelona: 1001 Windows, this painting invites the viewer to look through an inner window, where every cold ending quietly kindles the spark of a new journey.

For collectors, Transformation is a testament that the brightest light and true rebirth are often forged when fire conquers the frost.

Artwork 2: Above the Clouds
Painting: Above the Clouds, 45.5x38cm, mixed media

Some windows do not look outward; they lift us higher.

Above the mountain, clouds transform into soft landscapes of possibility.

Created through collage and rich mixed media, each layer unveils new dimensions with every view. From a distance, subtle structural textures below gently evoke the warm silhouettes of houses and the rising sun. Rising above, delicate wooden strips and softened cotton in vivid reds, greens, and shimmering gold stretch skyward—like a school of unique, radiant fish leaping upward, each representing an individual soul in its distinct beauty and ascent.

The cloud-like textures are formed by a rich, earth-like white paste, evocative of frosting but deliberately textured with delicate "C-Cracks"—faint fissures like those in weathering rock. Far from signifying decay, these cracks represent a threshold for new life. For from within these very fissures, something fresh and resilient quietly prepares to sprout, reminding us that imagination is one of life’s most precious windows: a tender threshold into new, unyielding possibilities born from resilience.

Every color and form climbs gently toward the sky, suggesting that even the smallest leap or a delicate break can become part of a grander elevation.

For collectors, this artwork celebrates individuality, wonder, and the quiet optimism that continually guides us beyond the horizon of what we already know.
